Some aspects of the relationship between Switzerland and the European Union

Abstract

This article is devoted to the main aspects of the cooperation between Switzerland and the European Union. Although Switzerland is not an EU member, it has close political and economic ties with it’s European neighbors. In the first decade of the XXI century with the entry into force of the two packages of «bilateral» agreements the relationship of Bern and Brussels has got fairly stable basis. However, it is significant that currently there is a crisis of this kind of contacts between Europe and Switzerland, which, for it’s turn is an indisputable fact to many experts. So what are the relations of Switzerland and the EU, as well as what to expect on Switzerland and Europe in the near future? On these questions we will try to answer in this article. In this article it is explored in detail the history and future trends of relations between Switzerland and the European Union, and it is made an attempt to identify problematic aspects between these regions.
