Abstract

The article is devoted to the art of public speaking in diplomacy. The introduction examines ancient kind of rhetoric – diplomatic oratory, whose history goes back to ancient Greece, Rome and India. In the main part of the article is given the full etymological analysis of the word «rhetoric», the word «Sheshenya» in the Kazakh language, described the history of formation of oratory. This article describes the views and opinions of the representatives of the ancient art of rhetoric, describes characteristics of the individual speaker, analyzes treatises and aphorisms of the greatest political figures, diplomats of that time. The article describes and analyzes the competence and skills of the speaker, how to prepare for a speech to a large audience, the stages of preparation, sources of materials. In the final part there are offered useful guidelines for the preparation of public speaking, considered stages of preparing a public speech in the modern rhetoric, the basic rules of a plan of public speech, that can be applied under any circumstances.
