The article presents the material covering the legal mechanisms of protection the rights and legitimate interests of ethnic minorities and the role of Kazakhstan in this process. In this regard, the author dwells on a set of legal acts adopted by the international community and regulating inter-ethnic relations. In the article special attention paid to the Convention on the Rights of Persons belonging to national minorities, signed in Moscow on 21 October 1994 by some subjects of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Given analysis of document, its positive aspects and disadvantages. It is noted that in the Republic of Kazakhstan developed its own special mechanism of regulation of inter-ethnic relations and the interests of national minorities. This thesis is substantiated analysis of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, established by the Decree of President of Kazakhstan dated March 1, 1995 as a consultative body under the President of RK. It is concluded that, to date, that it served as a reliable mechanism for solving the problems in the national sphere, and it is important that this experience will find its development, taking into account existing international legal mechanisms.References
