Abstract

The article deals with separatist sentiments in the UK. For many years separatism on the island has bound only to irredentist sentiments of Catholics in Northern Ireland, seeking to be reunited with the Republic of Ireland. However, for several decades not only Northern Ireland has been a headache for politicians of the United Kingdom. There is a growing movement for a way out of the kingdom in Scotland. It is noteworthy that this trend has appeared recently, but the number of supporters of the idea of an independent Scotland is growing. Results of the referendum in 2014 suggest that this question is not solved completely, and it’s too early to put an end to the question of separation of Scotland.
