Abstract

The article deals with the issues of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border formation since 20-ies of the last century to the present day. The Central Asian Republics were established by the Soviet power in 20-30 years of XX-th century as a result of the national-territorial division of the states. During the borders delimitation ethnic, economic, social features was not fully taken into account. Their boundaries were determined arbitrary. Formal borders that were artificially created by the Soviet power have become a means of political manipulation and lead to problems during the delimitation of inter-state limits. The formation of borders between former Soviet republics actually began in the late 90s of the 20th century, due to internal and external factors. In conclusion, the author points out that, in spite of the contradictions arising in border areas, 80% of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border has been delimited. Remaining 20% of the inter-state border lead to conflicts today.
