UN and control mechanisms to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms. Legal analysis of basic documents

Abstract

In this article the authors considers the example of the conventional organs of the United Nations, such as the Commission on Human Rights, the Sub-Commission on Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, ECOSOC, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other bodies for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of man and citizen. Were considered in the basic documents in this area, and also identified some shortcomings of their work. Authors have paid attention to other bodies established under the relatively new international conventions, such as the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Committee on Enforced Disappearances.
