Multilateral agreements in the sphere of international carriage of goods by road

Abstract

This article deals with the concept of international road transport and the characteristics of their legal regulation. The author focuses on such fundamental multilateral agreements in the field of international road transport of goods, such as the Convention on the Contract for International Carriage of Goods by Road (1956), Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the special equipment to be used for such goods (1976), Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets (1975), European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (1969), analyzes their provisions, and notes the shortcomings of these acts. The article also gives the notion of "consignment" – the main transportation document, and mandatory and optional requirements for its registration.
