Cooperation between UN and regional organizations in peacekeeping (NATO’S case)

Abstract

In this article the authors aim to analyze the cooperation of the UN and NATO in peacekeeping processes in the context of changing international crisis regulation institution. The article provides an overview of UN activities in the field of peacekeeping, as well as the function of the United Nations in this field by regional organizations such as NATO. This article assesses the role that NATO plays in peacekeeping and concludes that NATO has not only become a «new» organization but that, in successfully carrying out a peacekeeping role, it has enhanced its importance as the most significant organization in the international security architecture
