Abstract

The feature of Russian-Japanese relations is the fact that after the Second World War to the present two countries have not signed a peace treaty.
Territorial problem has its negative impact on the full use of their capabilities in many areas of relations. Claims of Japanese on belonging of the South Kuril Islands - Habomai, Shikotan, Kunashir, Iturup is a stumbling block to strengthen the intergovernmental cooperation. For Japan, which along with Russia has territorial disputes with China and South Korea, economic and energy ties with Russia are developing steadily . A striking example is the high rates of trade and economic relations in recent years.
