Problem of energy security in the European Union

EU energy security is one of the most important policies of European states. It is a strategy which aims at achieving the energy independence of the region and ensuring the energy security for all EU members. This article is devoted to the analysis of major components of the European Union energy security. The article attempts to analyze the formation of the EU energy policy, issues of EU energy security, measures to ensure energy security, the level of decision-making for maintaining the energy sector security. The use of systemic and structural-functional analysis made possible not only to draw conclusions about the current state of energy security problem of the EU, but also helped to apply predictive methods for assessing the internal and external factors affecting energy security, to identify security mechanisms and reveal problems and ways of their overcoming.Downloads
